Nicki Minaj will join "America Idol" judge's table next season

Blonde rapper Nicki Minaj will join America Idol as a judge next season, US Weekly reported this afternoon. The Trinidadian MC, born Onika Tanya Maraj joins Mariah Carey as a new regular on the declining ratings giant.
What's good for Nicki is not so good for Randy Jackson, the last remaining member of the original AI troika of judges, along with Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. Jackson will move to a "mentoring role" on the show, according to an US source. Among the other music celebs rrumored for a seat on the panel are Jonas bro Nick Jonas, Neptunes producer-singer Pharrell Williams, and still not married to Anna Kournikova heartthrob Enrique Iglesias.
With Minaj, AI will get two judges in one, if she brings along her outlier alter ego Roman Zolanski, showcased on this year's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album and her train wreck performance on this year's Grammy telecast.
Her ascendancy is sure to spice up Idol; it comes on the heels of a Twitter tantrum this morning in which she responded to criticism that she canceled a number of UK shows due to vocal issues by lashing out thusly:
"I was in jeopardy of losing my voice entirely and needing surgery on my vocal chord. If u can't understand that, your mother's a WHORE!!!!" she Tweeted. "I will NOT let you people make me feel horrible for a f---ing HEALTH issue! That's what got me in this mess! I shldve listened 2 the doctor!"

UN video: Beyonce’s sets social media record

A music video by pop singer Beyonce helped inspire one billion messages for World Humanitarian Day on Sunday, which the United Nations said was a social media record.
The singer recorded the music video, “I Was Here,” for the UN campaign to generate one billion messages encouraging people to do a good deed.
“The World Humanitarian Day 2012 campaign has made social media history by sharing more than one billion messages of hope,” the UN said in a statement.
The UN launched its campaign on August 2 to collect the messages, which were distributed on Sunday in honor of humanitarian workers.
The campaign numbers around the world soared after the release of Beyonce’s video on Saturday and the message spread rapidly among her fans.
Valerie Amos, UN under secretary general for humanitarian affairs, praised the “amazing work” of the singer in taking the UN’s cause further.
Dressed in a white, floor-length gown, Beyonce sang the song for the video at the UN General Assembly. The video shows her singing at the UN headquarters and scenes from recent disasters.
“This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care,” Beyonce said in a statement.

Madonna sued by Russian Activists over Gay Support

MOSCOW (AFP) – Several  have filed a 10-million-dollar lawsuit against Madonna, claiming they were offended by the pop diva’s support of homosexuals during her recent show, their lawyer said Monday.
“On Friday, a 333-million-ruble ($10.3 million) lawsuit was filed against Madame Louise Veronica Ciccone who calls herself Madonna,” Alexander Pochuyev, a lawyer representing the activists told AFP.
He also said the suit targeted the organisers of Madonna’s show in Saint Petersburg this month as well as the concert hall.
A spokeswoman for the Moscow District Court in Saint Petersburg confirmed to AFP the lawsuit had been received, adding the court would decide by the end of the week whether to accept it.
The nine plaintiffs, including activists from the Trade Union of Russian Citizens, claim there were offended by Madonna’s support for gays.
During her show in Russia’s former imperial capital the pop icon stripped to her bra to reveal the words “No Fear!” written on her back and called on her fans to show “love and appreciation for the gay community.”
Pochuyev also said the plaintiffs accused Madonna of trampling on a cross during her highly-theatrical performance playing on religious themes.
Saint Petersburg earlier this year passed a citywide law that fines those “promoting homosexuality” to minors, even though homosexuality is not a crime in the country.
Russia legalised homosexuality in 1993 after the fall of the Soviet Union but only ceased to classify it as a mental disorder in 1999, and homophobic attitudes still run high in the country.
Gay activists had earlier called on Madonna to cancel her concerts in Russia as a gesture of support for the gay community.
The US pop diva also angered the Russian authorities with her support of three members of punk band Pussy Riot, saying during her Moscow show she was praying for them.
Madonna said the sentencing was “unjust” after a Russian court handed the three women a two-year prison sentence Friday for hooliganism over an anti-Vladimir Putin stunt in a Moscow cathedral in February.
“I urge artists around the world to speak up in protest against this travesty,” she said in a statement on her official website on Saturday.

Olisa Adibua almost Messed Up The Rick Ross Show In Lagos

The show that brought Lagos to a stand-still,the St. Eve’s Summer Jam Fest held at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos last Friday could be one of the best shows staged in Nigeria in recent times. The show did not go without some hiccups.
The event started 4 hours late,Africa time I guess. It was billed to start at 7PM but finally started at 11PM.
Back stage, a source, who witnessed an ugly incident that happened, said that the Beat FM OAP, Olisa Adibuanearly messed the show up. It was said that he badgered a junior staff at Beat FM, and insisted that he should be the one to introduce Rick Ross to the stage to perform.Originally this was Larry D’s role whom the organisers of the show had chosen.
A fracas later ensued but was later resolved. Immediately Rick Ross finished his performance, the hall was scanty, which marred later performances by Flavour and others.
